At a recent Memorial Day event, I began to think as I was taking photos at the downtown parade and memorial. I noticed Brother Knights, not in regalia, but acting as local citizens taking part in the town’s event and playing a role in the community. Yes, I noticed Knights in parade as a local politician and another proudly marching with the Boy Scouts. As I look through the crowd, several more. In those speaking, the Blessing by our Fr. Leo and Guest Speaker, our own John Boyle who faithfully served in the US Marines and has been an advocate in support for the family of fallen Captain Doug DiCenzo. As I thought beyond the surrounding of the event, I remember others I see in daily activities within local community…directing traffic at busy school intersection, working at the local bank, that carpenter who takes good care of your needs, that guy that fixes the car after that accident, dedicated doctor, electrician, mailman, and even the guy leaving that parking ticket when you didn’t have quite enough change. Yes, they’re everywhere, but not necessarily visible, but playing a role in the community as citizens and as Knights.
